Stress, environmental factors, and nutrition are all known to modify the timing of human puberty implying dynamic adaptation of our brain to changes in surrounding stimuli. However, patients with congenital hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (CHH) have severely delayed or absent puberty due to mutations in one or few genes regulating the development and function of the hypothalamic-pituitary axis. Our aim is to characterize molecular genetic defects underlying CHH, and to develop in vitro disease models for CHH with human pluripotent stem cells.
